Euro NCAP names the top 8 cars for safety in 2013
Tristan Honeywill

Euro NCAP has named the safest cars assessed by the safety organization. These are the cars the experts recommend as top for safety in 2013.

Of the 36 vehicles crash tested in the last 12 months, Euro NCAP has identified eight that offer the best possible protection for adults, children and pedestrians. The following vehicles have been named as the safest on the market:

  • Renault Clio small car
  • Volvo V40 the small family car
  • BMW 3 Series large family car
  • Fiat 500L small MPV

  • Ford B-MAX small MPV
  • Ford Kuga small 4×4
  • Hyundai Santa Fe large 4×4
  • Ford Transit family van

The Volvo V40 was the overall winner, achieving the highest overall score ever in a Euro NCAP test.

Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP Secretary General, told Car Safety Rules: “A lot of cars achieved five stars last year. It’s good that manufacturers are supporting the changes in our assessment, progressively improving safety. With three winners, Ford has clearly decided that they want to be best-in-class on safety in terms of our ratings and the Advanced awards we give for optional safety technologies.”
